Everything about Al-muazzam Turanshah totally explained

Turanshah, also Turan Shah (Arabic : توران شاه) (epithet: al-Malik al-Muazzam Ghayath al-Din Turanshah (Arabic : الملك المعظم غياث الدين توران شاه)) (d. 2 May, 1250, Fariskur ) was the Sultan of Egypt for a brief period.

Biography

He was the son and heir of the Ayyubid sultan of Egypt As-Salih Ayyub who died during the Seventh Crusade led by the French King Louis IX against Egypt in 1249. Shajar al-Durr, wife of the dead sultan concealed the news of the sultan’s death and recalled Turanshah from Hasankeyf to receive the throne of Egypt and lead the army against the invading crusaders. Turanshah arrived in Egypt and led the Egyptian army but after the Battle of Fariskur he started to replace his father’s staff with his own, and showed hostility toward Shajar al-Durr and the Bahri Mamluks who served his father and played a crucial role in defeating the Frankish forces during the Battle of Al Mansurah. The actions of Turanshah led to his murder by the Mamlukes and Shajar al-Durr became the Sultana of Egypt.
With the death of Turanshah, the 8th sultan of the Ayyubid dynasty, the reign of the Ayyubids in Egypt ended forever.
